November 1, 1934 - Railway Air Services first flight from Belfast to London via Liverpool.
On November 1, 1934, the Railway Air Services route from London to Glasgow and return was changed to include a stop at Liverpool. The stops at Birmingham and Manchester were discontinued. Although not a first flight, a number of covers were dispatched from Belfast to Glasgow on this date. This leg should be added by making the following entry on page 17.

August 5, 1939 - Imperial Airways flight from Foynes to New York via Botwood & Montreal. The write-up of this flight in the book states that all covers sent from Ireland received a special diamond purple cachet on the front. A post card has been found where this cachet is printed in black ink. It is not known if there are more cards or covers with a black ink cachet. Please add the following entry on page 26.

April 15, 1957 - Aer Lingus first flight from Frankfurt to Dublin via Brussels. A cover posted in Vienna, Austria and carried on this flight has been found. Therefore, please add the following entry at the top of page 49.

March 26, 1989- Air France first flight between Nice and Dublin via Paris. On March 26, 1989, Air France began air service between Nice and Dublin with an intermediate stop in Paris. Covers were carried from both Nice and Paris to Dublin and from Dublin to Nice on the return flight. Please make the listings for this flight on page 84 to read as follows.

June 28, 1987 - Air France flight from Paris to Shannon and return.On June 28, 1987, Air France began air service between Paris and Shannon. The plane used was a Fokker F28 designated F-GBBS. The pilot on the flights was P. Jaccquier. The covers to Ireland have a Shannon backstamp dated 28 June 1987.

October 31/November 1, 1988 - Air France flight from Paris to Belfast and return.Air France began air service between Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris and Belfast on October 31, 1988. The return flight was on November 1st. The plane used for these flights was a Fokker F28 designated F-GBBX. The pilot on the flights was Captain Kaupp.

March 25, 1990 - Special Air France flight from Paris to Belfast and return using a Concode. On March 25, 1990, Air France made its first Concorde flight from Paris to Belfast and return. The total flying time from Paris to Belfast was 1 hour 17 minutes. For 27 minutes of this time the plane was traveling at a supersonic speed. The commander of the flight was Capt. Boye. A number of souvenir covers were carried in each direction.

April 28, 1958 - Aer Lingus flight from Dublin and Shannon to New York. There were covers dispatched in Vienna, Austria and sent on this flight from Dublin to New York. These covers have a special Vienna postmark dated April 20, 1958 and have the special flight cachet that was applied in Dublin. Therefore, please add the following entry on page 50.

October 6, 1962 - Pan American flight from Washington/Baltimore to Shannon. (New)
On October 6, 1962, Shannon was added to the number of European cities served by Pan am on its flights originating in Washington/Baltimore. No cachets were provided for the covers on this flight and very few covers were carried. The covers were backstamped at Shannon on October 8th.

September 14,1964 - Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Zurich. (New) Aer Lingus conducted a special "Europa Flight" from Dublin to Zurich on September 14, 1964. 300 specially printed 4d postal stationery envelopes were carried on this flight. The envelopes were posted in Dublin, on the first day of issue of the 1964 Europa stamps, and were forwarded to Montreux after being flown to Zurich. They have a Montreux arrival backstamp of September 17, 3:00pm.

February/March 1935 - Introduction of Glasgow receiving cachets. The first addition is the discovery of the use of a Type II Glasgow "AIR (wings) MAIL" cachet on an official registered cover from the Irish Free State, not Northern Ireland. The cover is rated correctly 5d from Downings (under Letterkenny), County Donegal. It is likely to have been circulated through Derry to Belfast for airmail transmission to Glasgow.
