Irish Postal Rates from 5th July 1999 to 31st December 2001
The Euro had been the official currency of Ireland since 1st January 1999 and from 1st January 2002 Ireland became the daily currency in use by the population at large with the introduction of Euro coins and notes. Therefore these rate tables show the Euro equivalent as well as the Irish Pound rates in effect.

There were no major changes in rates as compared to the previous rates in operation from 6th April 1998. National (Ireland) and G.B. rates for all weight steps over 500g were increased. All European and Rest of World rates remained unchanged. Registration and Swiftpost rates for all destinations also increased. The term Economy rate is effectively a surface service.
25g POP (Post Office Preferred Size) Rates
Maximum dimensions of a Letter / Postcard: 235mm x 162mm x 5mm thickness (i.e. C5 size).
Otherwise 50g rate applies.
